  • A son, a father, and a grandfather. They all have one thing in common: they are outsiders of their respective cultures. For the son, it is being gay and Chinese. For the father, it is being silenced by the government. For the grandfather, it is being considered reactionary by the Chinese government, while led to his execution. This talk explores how these differences bring them together instead of pulling them apart. Justin is an 11th grader at Phillips Exeter Academy. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
